Introduction of the 14th China National Model United Nations Conference


The UNA-China will host the 14th China National Model United Nations Conference (CNMUN) in Zhejiang University on 27 -29 October, 2017.


As the most influential Model UN Conference in China, this year’s CNMUN will continue to simulate different UN bodies and conferences and discuss cutting-edge UN issues. There will be 6 committees: Security Council, General Assembly, Second Committee of General Assembly, Third Committee of General Assembly, UN Women, and High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. A Main Press Center will also be set up. Topics to be deliberated include Peacekeeping and Peace Building, Internet Freedom & Regulations, Countering Terrorism & Protection of Human Rights, 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through International Cooperation, Women Empowerment and Gender Equality, and Climate Change and Rights of Development.


This year’s CNMUN plans to invite 500 to 600 delegates and observers. UN officials and senior Chinese diplomats will also be invited to attend the conference and serve as judges.


The UNA-China hosted the first CNMUN in 2004 with the financial support from the Australian Human Rights Commission. Since its debut, CNMUN has held 13 conferences consecutively in 13 universities, namely China Foreign Affairs University, Northwestern Polytechnic University, Sichuan University, Heilongjiang University, Xiamen University, Beijing Normal University, Sichuan International Studies University, National University of Defense Technology, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Southeast University, East China University of Science and Technology and the PLA Information Engineering University. Up to now, nearly 4500 participants have taken part in the previous 13 conferences.
