UNA-China Successfully Held Dialogue on Transforming Global Governance with UN Under-Secretary-General for Policy Guy Ryder

On March 27, 2024, United Nations Association of China (UNA-China) successfully held Dialogue on Transforming Global Governance in Beijing. Chinese experts and scholars were invited to exchange views on topics of the UN Summit of the Future (SOTF) with UN Under-Secretary-General for Policy Mr. Guy Ryder. Resident Coordinator of the UN Development System in China Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee attended the event. Ms. Hu Wenli, Vice-President and Director-General of UNA-China moderated the dialogue.

Dr. JIN Zhongxia, former Executive Director for China in the International Monetary Fund, former Director General of International Department of the People’s Bank of China,
Dr. ZHOU Taidong, Vice President and Researcher at the Center for International Knowledge on Development,
Dr. ZHANG Haibin, Vice Dean and Professor of the School of
International Studies, Director of the Center for International Organization Studies, Peking University, 
Dr. LIANG Zheng, Professor of the School of Public Policy and
Management, Research Fellow and Vice President of Institute for AI International Governance, Tsinghua University,
Dr. MAO Ruipeng, Senior Researcher of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), Deputy Director of and SIIS Center for American Studies,
Prof. ZENG Yi, Director at the International Research Center for AI Ethics and Governance, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Expert of UN High-level Advisory Body on AI,
Prof. ZHANG Guihong, Director of Centre for UN Studies at Fudan University,
attended the event and delivered remarks in turn.


UN Under-Secretary-General Mr. Ryder introduced main topics of the SOTF, and commended Chinese civil society and academia for their engagement in and contributions to the SOTF progress. Experts and scholars discussed international peace and security, sustainable development and development financing, climate change, UN reform, artificial intelligence governance etc. They emphasized the importance of the global governance system with the UN at its core, expecting the SOTF and Pact for the Future to focus on pressing demands of developing countries, work to transform the global governance system towards a more just and equitable direction, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
