Vice-President Hu Wenli Attended the International Symposium Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
On December 5, 2023, Ms. Hu Wenli, Vice-President and Director-General of the United Nations Association of China, attended the International Symposium Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and delivered a keynote speech under the sub-topic "Dialogue, Cooperation and Global Human Rights Governance".
In her speech, Vice-President Hu said that over the past 75 years since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the international community has made continuous efforts to realize the goals of the Declaration, and the world human rights cause has made great progress. At present, the international situation is facing increasing uncertainties, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda is lagging behind, posing great challenges to the promotion and protection of human rights. The international community should, in the spirit of building a community with a shared future for mankind, promote the common values of mankind, adhere to the concepts of equality, mutual trust, inclusiveness, mutual learning, win-win cooperation and common development, and make global human rights governance more fair, just, reasonable and inclusive.
The symposium was hosted by the China Foundation for Human Rights Development. Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The Chinese and foreign participants had in-depth discussions on the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the problems and challenges facing global human rights governance, and China's achievements and experiences in protecting human rights in the new era.
